Martin F. Mayer Internship Program

Administered by the Yale Entrepreneurial Society, the Yale Club of New Haven and the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute

Introduction

In line with the philosophy that the best way to learn about entrepreneurship is to work for an entrepreneur, YES and YCNH have partnered to launch a summer internship program dedicated to placing Yale undergraduate students at exciting, local start-up ventures and providing those students with a $3500 stipend.

Martin F. Mayer ’58 was a spirited and dedicated member of the Yale and New Haven business communities who passed away on February 11, 2010. We have named this program in honor of his impassioned commitment to entrepreneurship.

Sponsorship

Current internship opportunities are being sponsored by the Yale Club of New Haven and Winstanley Enterprises, LLC.

We hope to raise funds to create an enduring initiative, and continue to offer internship opportunities to students and start-ups for years to come. If you are interested in supporting this fund, please email ycnh@pantheon.yale.edu or mail donations to: Yale Club of New Haven, PO Box 775, New Haven, CT 06503-0775.

2010 Summer Internships

We have two internship opportunities for summer 2010, open to all Yale undergraduates. Both companies are seeking self-driven, entrepreneurial candidates who are able to commit to 8-12 weeks over the summer. To apply, email a resume and cover letter to yes@yale.edu by March 8, 2010. Applicants will be notified by March 15, 2010 if they have been selected for an interview.

  • The Arab Students Association (ASA) and the Yale Friends of Turkey (YFT), in conjunction with McKinsey & Co and several partners at Yale University, are organizing a conference on Entrepreneurship in the Middle East. It is the collaborators’ vision to organize a conference that sheds a different light on a region where great opportunities are constantly overshadowed by politically charged news headlines. Such an initiative, falls within the ASA’s mission of breaking down stereotypes and closing the divide between the people of the U.S. and the Middle East.
  • The conference will consist of two keynote speakers, the first being Fadi Ghandour of Aramex and the second being Habib Haddad, founder of Yamli.com. The conference will also involve two panels covering the topics: Social Entrepreneurship, Education and Socioeconomic Development and The Role of Women in Entrepreneurship. There will also be a talk on the Future of Renewable Energy in the Middle East.
